ANNUAL REPORT 2004 FROM THE RCNUWC BOARD

OPERATION
The aim of the foundation is to promote peace and international understanding, sustainable development and ecological knowledge through education, research and seminars, as well as other measures. It is hoped to achieve this aim through the operation of the institution of education, Red Cross Nordic United World College at Haugland, Fjaler, in the county of Sogn og Fjordane.

CONTINUED OPERATION
The 2004 college accounts showed a positive figure of NOK 1,233,415.

This is better then the yearly budget and has to do with lesser staffing through part of the year and reduced running cost in different functions.

The own capital is now positive by NOK 2.051.493,- and the college has a satisfactory liquidity in relation to continued operations.

During the autumn 2003, the concern experienced a severe reduction in income due to the loss of the subsidy from the Norwegian government, which accounts for roughly 54% of the total income. Much attention was given to this matter, both internally at the college, and externally by the college’s cooperation partners, resulting in the subsidy cut being cancelled, so that the concern has now a similar starting point for its 2004 budget as it had for its 2003 budget.

The ministry, under direction of the minister, has taken the initiative for discussions on further Nordic cooperation in relation to Red Cross Nordic United World College with the aim of
securing a more predictable income for the future. This is an ongoing process and the college has received positive feedback from contributors about keeping up the income. The
college has for the year 2005 received contribution according to increase in cost and salaries.
The conditions for continued operations are now present, and the 2004 accounts have been prepared taking this into consideration.
