Beginners' courses in Norwegian Chinese and Spanish are only for students who have had no previous instruction or familiarity with the language. Language B courses are normally for students with some background in that language, for example 2-5 years' learning. Language B courses and courses for beginners are mainly language-based. English A2 is for students who have had a considerable amount of teaching or experience in English and have native or near-native level. The English A2 course lies midway between the literary approach of the Group 1 course and the language-based approach of Group 2. Both literary and non-literary texts and topics will be studied, along with a focus on linguistic and cultural aspects. You are encouraged to learn a new foreign language while at the College. However, if you are not a native speaker of English, you should consider choosing either English A2 or English B, in order to strengthen your ability to follow the other IB courses. |
